  • Graduated as a Bachelor of Medicine (BM) in 1984 from Southampton University, England
  • Trained as a general surgeon and transplant surgeon in Wessex (UK), Manchester (UK), Pittsburgh (USA), Edinburgh (UK) and Cleveland (USA).
  • Fellow of both the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of Edinburgh and England (FRCS) in 1989.
  • Over 20 published scientific papers in peer reviewed journals
  • Presented and co-authored a number of scientific presentations at international congresses in Japan, Europe, India, USA and the UK.
  • Previously actively involved in teaching medical students and junior doctors in major UK teaching hospitals.
  • Accredited as a specialist in General Surgery in 1997 and joined the GMC’s specialist register.
  • Awarded Doctorate in Medicine (MD) in 1999 by the University of Manchester in the field of Small Bowel Transplantation.
  • Held consultant posts in Plymouth (Senior Lecturer /Associate Professor), Guys and St Thomas’s Hospitals London, Oxford Radcliffe (Honorary Tutor to Green College and involved in the initial development of the highly successful Oxford Pancreas and Non-heart beating kidney transplant programmes), the Western Infirmary, Glasgow (reintroduced the living related kidney transplant programme for the West of Scotland) and St Bernard’s Hospital Gibraltar (ran a busy general surgical practice and introduced laparoscopic surgery as well as a dedicated breast and colon cancer service).
  • Accreditation in General Surgery and Internal Medicine in Spain in 2008.

Professional profile:

1988:- Graduated as a doctor from Punjab University Lahore and received early training in Islamabad.

1994:- Moved to Ireland.

1995-1996:- Trained in Anaesthesia & Intensive Care Medicine at Limerick University Hospital and University Hospital Cork.

1997-2001:- Trained in General Internal Medicine.

2001:- Received accreditation of general professional training in General Internal Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland.

2001:- Became Member of the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland

2002-2004:- Trained in Respiratory Medicine at St Vincent’s University Hospital Dublin and The Adelaide and Meath Hospital Tallaght Dublin.

2004:- Locum consultant physician in the Adelaide & Meath Hospital Tallaght, Dublin.

2005:- Locum Consultant Physician Naas General Hospital Ireland.

2006:- Joined St. Bernard’s Hospital Gibraltar as a full time Consultant in General Medicine. Developed a bespoke respiratory service at St Bernard’s Hospital. Introduced a rapid lung cancer diagnosis clinic, lung function laboratory, sleep study service and chronic lung disease clinics. Established and strengthened links with UK and Spanish tertiary centres.

2008: Co-founded the Specialist Medical Clinic

2009: Clinical Director of the department of Medicine at St Bernard’s Hospital, Gibraltar.
